2020 has been a year like no other. But, you made it through. You’re now ready to take on your 2021 uni adventure! We’re welcoming international students to UNSW, even if you’ll be starting online. That won’t stop you from diving headfirst into study and student life as we welcome you to UNSW.

What will my uni experience look like in Term 1, 2021?

COVID-19 restrictions are easing every day and our top priority is to welcome back our international students. It hasn’t been the same without you!

Term 1 at UNSW can be approached virtually, in person on campus or a hybrid of the two. Extensive UNSW safety measures mean that your experience on campus can be social, lively and safe if you’ll be joining us on campus for Term 1.

Will classes be online or face-to-face?

We know everyone’s circumstances are different so our lectures will remain online for Term 1, 2021. Classes such as tutorials and practicals are being offered face-to-face with online options provided where possible for students who are unable to attend.

If you’re joining a tutorial or practical online there’s still plenty of opportunities to get involved, make new friends and immerse yourself in the UNSW experience online. Our online classes are interactive, allowing you to talk to your teachers and classmates in real time.

What if I can’t make it in person?

We know things will take some time to return to normal, so we’re making provisions and offering flexibility for your learning. Most classes will also be offered online for students unable to attend.

There are some courses with components that can’t be completed remotely. You can find out what these courses are on our Coronavirus Information Hub. If one of these classes is a core component of your degree, you can consider an elective or an alternative course to progress your studies.

It’s important to note that if a face-to-face option is not offered for your selected courses, you’re able to study online without this impacting your student visa.

Student life – everything outside the classroom

One of the silver linings of 2020 was we reimagined how we could connect and socialise. Much of our student life moved online so that all students could stay connected, involved and excited about their uni experience.

From clubs and societies, events and more - in 2021 we’ll still make online provisions for our international students so you can join our student body and begin to make friends from day one.
