Living and studying overseas is exciting, but there’s a lot of new information to take in. We want to make sure your time in Australia is a fantastic experience, from settling in and making new friends to getting the most out of your studies. No matter what, we’re here for you every step of the way.
Our International Student Experience Unit (ISEU) has helpful people and useful advice. This includes everything to do with your university life, student visa, wellbeing and academic performance. We can also answer any questions you have about adjusting to Australia and organise someone to collect you from the airport.
We can also assign you a Cultural Mentor or 'buddy’. Your buddy is a trained volunteer who can answer any questions about learning at UNSW or living in Sydney. They’re a senior student who understands your situation, whether they’re Australian or from overseas.
When your buddy can’t give you the answers you need, our International Student Advisors can. Particularly if you need help with complex personal matters, like your student visa, homesickness or understanding UNSW academic policies.
Our dedicated team of advisors work with all students to promote the development of skills, reduce your study load and provide personal support. This includes the following services and resources:
We’re regarded as one of the friendliest universities in Australia. We can guide you to peer mentors from your area of study and people who share your interests in UNSW Arc clubs and societies.
We have services, resources and workshops to support your studies. We run information sessions that develop your academic standing and can offer guidance on how to get the most out of meeting academic advisors.
Australian government regulations concerning student visas can be complex and our advisors can give you personal guidance. We also have general resources on:
